Chicago Class of '85 (1985): This was a compilation project in Chicago, IL, featuring some of the area's best club bands for the year. Stan was in the band 'Risk!', with the DeMarco brothers (Joey, Johnny, & Sammy), and Jimmy Kidd. The Illinois Entertainer sponsored the album and featured it on one of its monthly covers. Risk!'s contribution to the album was 'Baby, When Your Love Comes Down', an original by Jimmy Kidd. Stan was 'Stan Gunn' at the time, and added keyboard strings & a flute solo to the track (yes, strings & flute!) - a funky danceable live show staple. This record is obviously valuable and very hard to find, but Stan says he knows where two copies are. As soon as he digs them out of the box in the garage, he's gonna listen to 'em again. Also of great historical interest: if you were anywhere near Chicago in '85, you have to remember the Chicago Bears' Super Bowl Shuffle. It reached #41 on the music charts. Amazing fun times. ;-)

The Eddie O'Neil Tapes (1980): Recorded in Berrien Springs, Michigan, with Scott Newton, Steve Haraburda, Greg Errandi, Steve Brandwein, Rick Kress, & Stan Erhart (The Eddie O'Neil lineup). A highly original band who knew how to make good music and have a great time. Lots of gigs and radio interviews throughout Michigan and Chicago, and a midwest tour via the "Good Music Agency" (now Talent Buyers Network).

Other Recordings: Hundreds of hours of live recordings have been done over the years via a hard disk recorder, which has become the designated critic. More mixdowns may eventually surface from these self imposed bootlegs.

History
Stan enjoys being the 'utility man' in groups - which he has done for many years - backing other artists on guitar, sax, flute, keys, and vocals. But he also likes a very focused and lean approach to live performance. With such a mission in mind, 'Hack Bondo' emerged in 1995 as Stan's foray into leading and fronting a rock 'n blues trio. Bob Waterman played bass, and Brad Torres was on drums. Brad inadvertently influenced the band name with his stories of body work gone bad ('hack bondo' jobs). The name stuck, and unexpectedly resonated with bookers and fans.

The Hack Bondo CD was recorded, mixed and produced by Tardon Feathered (think about it) at Mr. Toad's Recording Studio, 5th & Bluxome, San Francisco, CA. Rhythm tracks were recorded live in the studio as a three piece and no one got more than a couple of tries to get it right. Vocals and a few of the solos were the only parts overdubbed. This was meant to be done as a cheap demo, but ended up somewhere between the lo-fi thing and whatever that other thing is. CD's were pressed and you could buy them at Tower Records stores in San Francisco.

The first Hack Bondo gig took place at Ireland's 32, SF, on Sunday, Dec. 17, 1995. Hack Bondo went on to perform gigs too numerous to count. Bar fights were considered normal, and a possible measure of how good the energy was on a particular night.

As personnel and music and venues changed, the Hack Bondo band name was eventually dropped and became the production and record company name instead. The original inspiration behind the band continues to grow and flourish, altho a trio format is no longer mandatory. Drop by a 'Stan Erhart Band' gig sometime to see and hear what's going on.

Thanks is extended to friends and supporters (willing or otherwise) whose help is appreciated immensely.
